Hiring a DJ FAQ's
How far in advance should I book my DJ?There is no set time period to book a DJ, but bear in mind that some times of the year are busier than others. As soon as you know your wedding date, you should be booking your DJ as well. Is a deposit required to secure a date?Yes, there is a deposit involved which can be discussed with the booking agent at the time of booking. How much do you charge?Rates vary slightly, depending on location, what equipment is required, and hours of operation involved. Do you offer lighting or other effects?We have a full light show on a 10 foot truss system as well as unscented fog if required. Applicable charges would apply. Does the DJ provide a microphone for speeches/toasts?A corded microphone or a cordless headset microphone can be made available depending on the requirements of the client. No stand or podium is available though, so please request these items at the time of booking. When does the sound system get set up?The system, (NOT including the light show), requires approximately 45 minutes to set up. 2 1/2 hours if the lighting system is required. The DJ can usually arrive early to do a proper set up and sound check. Do your DJ's have some sort of dress code?Our DJ's where black and white, (polo style), shirts with black dress pants, and black dress shoes, but given proper notice the DJ can arrived in formal attire or costume for special occasions like Halloween! Can the DJ stay longer if we want him to?For a small additional hourly rate, the DJ will stay as long as is required. Can you help in coordinating my wedding reception?It's always a great idea to have your M.C. or best man contact us, so your reception goes as smooth as possible. Is Karaoke extra?Yes. There is an extra charge, however a package deal can be worked out if you require a combination of dance music and karaoke. We currently carry about 4,300 titles to choose from and growing for Karaoke. Will you play music from my family's original country of origin?Yes. However, we would appreciate if you, the client, could provide that to our DJ in CD format prior to showtime. Are you insured?Yes. We carry liability insurance as well as coverage against theft, loss or fire. Can we meet with you prior to booking?Absolutely! Both current and potential clients are encouraged to meet with us. We will generally meet with you at your residence or a location that is convenient for you. How do I know our DJ will do what we want?At Evolution Sound DJ Services our livelihood depends upon us doing exactly what you want. Without happy clients we would not exist. We have a successful track record of doing exactly what our clients want. Simply let us know what you want and DO NOT want, and that is exactly what you will receive. Will you have business cards available for our guests?Yes. If one of your guests requests information, we will provide them with a business card to contact us at a later time. Are your DJ's interactive?Yes we are! We take pride in our ability to interact with you and your guests, tastefully, to the level YOU desire. Can we request songs?Please do!!! Your requests ensure that you are hearing what you want to hear. We realize that satisfied customers are happy customers! Do you have references?Yes! Please go to our home page and click on the link for "Testimonials." Is your music licensed and approved by the A.V.L.A. (Audio Video Licensing Agency)?Yes. Our music library is provided by "E.R.G. Music" and "Promo Only" from Calgary Alberta. Are you a licensed DJ business?Yes. We currently hold a valid license for ALL of Saskatchewan. |
